The other day, I attended a business school party as an alumnus. It had been quite some time since I last joined such an event, so the experience felt both nostalgic and refreshing.
The gathering took place at a hotel in Tokyo, where dozens of alumni and prospective students came together in a lively yet thoughtful atmosphere.
In recent years, tuition fees for business schools have risen significantly, making the decision to enroll more challenging for many candidates. However, this difficulty is not one-sided. Universities themselves are facing increasing pressure to attract talented students in a highly competitive global environment. Events like this, held in major cities around the world, serve as an important bridge between institutions and prospective applicants.
During the party, I had the opportunity to speak with several candidates. I was genuinely impressed by their clarity of purpose and strong motivation to advance their careers. Each of them articulated their goals with confidence, and their determination was both encouraging and inspiring.
Of course, if one’s objective is simply to study MBA subjects, it is entirely possible to learn from textbooks independently. However, studying abroad and immersing oneself in a diverse environment alongside ambitious peers offers something far beyond academic knowledge.
It is an experience that shapes perspectives, builds lifelong networks, and leaves a lasting impact on one’s personal and professional life.
I sincerely hope that many motivated candidates will take the step to join my alma mater and create their own meaningful journeys.
