今回が「私と英語の関わり」の最終回です。
私自身は、「会計」・「企業財務」・「経済学」、あるいは（学生時代には）「数学」といった「基礎から順に積み上げてく領域」を比較的得意にしており、またそれなりの成果を上げていました。
英語も（そうした領域と）同じような勉強方法で勉強していました。つまり単語や文法を重視した勉強です。
しかし、残念ながらこの（積上げ型の）方法ではあまり成果が上がらなかったように思います。そこで、英語に関してはまったく「逆」の方法をとりました。端的に言えば、気ままに英語に取り組むという方法で、これが功を奏しました。
英語があまり好きではない私のような人間にとっては、（英語の勉強自体を目的とするのではなく）英語と自分の好きなもの（興味のあるもの）を組合わせることで、英語を身に付けるのが効果的だと思います。
つまり、「自分が興味のある領域（＝目的）」を「英語（＝手段）」で勉強するという方向性です。単純なことですが、このことに気づくまでずいぶん長い時間がかかってしまいました。
以降、この流れでUSCPA（米国公認会計士）にほぼ独学で合格、海外ビジネススクール（MBA）の入学準備（TOEFLスコアのクリアやessayなどの準備）も自力でクリアしました。
英語自体の勉強もある程度は必要ですが、ビジネスパーソンがそれなりに高いレベルの英語力を身につけたい、あるいは高いレベルを維持したいと考えると、毎日かなりの時間を英語に割く必要があります。
しかし、英語の勉強を長時間行った結果、肝心のビジネススキルが落ちてしまっては本末転倒です。
これを防ぐのが英語によるビジネス知識やスキルの取得です。これによって、ビジネス能力も英語も同時にアップさせることができます。まさに一石二鳥です。
私自身は「独学が好き」なのですが、これは当時の実体験に裏付けられているように思います。

Well, folks, this is it for the last round.
I found myself to be relatively proficient in subjects such as Accounting（both financial and managerial）, Corporate Finance, Economics, and Mathematics, which were built up from the basics.
I had also been studying English in a similar manner, say, vocabulary and grammar, and so forth. But I had not made much progress.
My experience showed that I should take a completely “opposite approach” with English.
Simply put, it’s about dealing with English in a laid-back way, which turned out to be effective.
For someone like me, who didn’t particularly enjoy English, it’s more effective to integrate English with other things appealing to me.
In essence, the direction shifted towards studying the areas of my interest through English. While this might seem very straightforward, it took me quite a long time to realize this.
Following this approach, I successfully passed the CPA (Certified Public Accountant in the United States) exam on my own.
And I prepared for enrollment in Business School（MBA）by myself.
Although studying English itself is necessary to some extent, business persons who wish to attain or maintain a high level of proficiency in English are likely to devote a significant amount of their time.
It’s like putting the cart before the horse when you yourself sacrifice essential business skills due to solely focusing on learning English for an extended period of time.
To prevent this, acquiring business knowledge and skills through English is essential.
This enables the simultaneous improvement of both English language proficiency and business capabilities. It’s hitting two birds with one stone.
I believe that my affinity for self-study is supported by my experiences during this period.
